The Declaration of Faith
The First Kalima (Tayyibah) is the foundation of Islam: "La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur rasulullah." Every Muslim recites this daily. Pronouncing it with the correct Tajweed honors its immense spiritual weight.
Part 1: La ilaha illallah
Start with "Laa". Ensure you elongate the 'A' sound for two counts (Madd Asli). The 'H' in "ilaha" is the soft 'h' originating from the bottom of the throat. When you say "illallah", the name of Allah should be pronounced heavily (Tafkheem) because it is preceded by a letter with a Fatha (the 'lam' in illa).
Part 2: Muhammadur rasulullah
Pay close attention to the word "Muhammadur". The 'H' here is the sharp, raspy 'H' (ح) from the middle of the throat, NOT the soft English 'h'. There is a Shaddah on the 'M', so you must hold the nasal sound (Ghunnah) for two counts. When transitioning to "rasulullah", the 'R' must be pronounced heavily, and the 'S' is a standard 'seen' (س), not a thick 'saad' (ص).
